Caregiver U brings the A Matter of Balance<\/em> program to the Central Texas community to prevent devastating falls in older adults and to help seniors develop an active, healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n

According to the Center for Disease Control, one out of three older adults experience a fall each year. And falls are the leading cause of both nonfatal and fatal injuries in older adults.<\/p>\n

These are frightening statistics, but the good news is that falls are not a normal or inevitable part of aging\u2013 there are simple steps you can take today to reduce your risk or that of someone you love.<\/p>\n

A Matter of Balance<\/em> emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle. \u00a0Participants will learn to:

• Set goals for increasing activity<\/li>\n
• Make changes to reduce fall risks at home<\/li>\n
• Exercise to increase strength and balance<\/li>\n
• View falls as controllable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
